FIRST Tech Challenge
About FTC
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST Robotics Competition but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit. The main goal of FTC is to reach more young people with a lower-cost, more accessible opportunity to discover the excitement and rewards of science, technology, and engineering. FTC allows for a seamless transition between it and FLL (FIRST Lego League) by using the same NXT controller provided to teams by the Lego Corporation.
The Challenge
The 2010-2011 FTC competition is Get Over It!™ The game is played on a 12' x 12' playing, with two alliances of two robots competing against each other. The goal of Get Over It! is to earn more points by depositing the PVC scoring batons in the goals. Different goals earn different point values, and lots of bonus points are available to teams who can get the magnetic batons in the proper place. The full details of Get Over It!, including official game manual and video, are available at FIRST's website here.
